FERRON-Bruce Nelson Berensen, age 68, passed away Feb. 15, 2010. Bruce was born Jan. 22, 1942, in Kenilworth, Utah, as the second of four children born to Clayton and Florene Zwahlen Berensen.
Bruce lived in Helper until the age of 12 when his family moved to Ferron. He graduated from South Emery High School in 1960. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1963 serving our country for two tours in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
Afterwards, Bruce lived in California for two years, and then returned to Ferron. He began working for the Emery County Road Department in 1972 and remained there until he retired in 2003. Bruce lived with his parents where he served as their caregiver.
He enjoyed shopping for others and was always taking care of others. He also enjoyed railroads and airplanes. Bruce will be remembered as a loving, caring, compassionate son, brother, uncle, and friend who always put others needs before his own.
Bruce is survived by his mother, Florene Zwahlen Berensen; a brother, Gary (Jean) Berensen of Price; two sisters, Sandra (Roger) Killpack of Ferron and Laurel (Randy) Magnuson of Castle Dale; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Nelson Berensen.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, in the Bluehills LDS Ward Chapel at 12 noon. There was a viewing from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment was in the Ferron City Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 42 of Ferron. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
