PRICE-Gene Loren Crocco, beloved son, father, brother and uncle, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 21, 2010 at his home.
He was born Dec. 20, 1962 in Price, Utah to Eugene and Gaylene Peterson Crocco.
Genie was a graduate of Carbon High School, where he was Student Body President, captain of the football team, varsity wrestling team and catcher for the varsity baseball team. He also excelled in drama, where he received state honors in humorous readings.
He was a graduate of Utah State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in communications. After schooling, he returned to Carbon County where he worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. During his 10 years he received several state awards for the number of clients he placed and those that found success in their placements.
He enjoyed sports, to the extent that he became a certified umpire for both baseball and softball. Genie was a familiar person at the softball complex and the Babe Ruth complex where he earned the respect of the coaches, players and parents for his reliability and talent.
As a high school student, he developed the skill of growing beautiful plants, flowers and shrubs. His interest in this area brought about enjoyment and beauty to his family and friends. He spent hours outdoors, hunting and fishing with his father and uncles. He always said the best part of the outing was his father and uncles, Bill and Frank’s, cooking.
Gene was very close to his family and he loved spending time with his beautiful daughter, Angelina. He loved traditional Italian dinners shared with his family and especially loved to share stories with his two nephews who adored their Uncle Gene. He will be remembered most because of his generosity and understanding of helping other people.
He is survived by his daughter Angelina; mother and father, Eugene and Gaylene Crocco; sisters, Christy (Scott) Richards, Carrie (Mike) Shiner; nephews, Casey and Cade; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
