Harry Williams Easterbrook passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in Elmo, Utah at the age of 93 and a half years following his birth on Aug. 20 1916 in Standardville, Carbon, Utah. He was the second child of five born to Andrew C. and Janet Williams Easterbrook. As a youth, Harry also lived in Kenilworth, Utah. He spent summers in Cleveland on the farm of his maternal grandparents; a place he dearly loved. He graduated from Carbon High in Price.
On Oct. 15, 1938 Harry married Barbara Whitehead in Kenilworth. They made their home in Cleveland for nearly 60 years when Barbara passed away in June 1998. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Harry remained in the family home for more than 11 years when he moved into Beehive Homes in Elmo in August 2009.
Harry was a handy-man and could do nearly any kind of work, from carpentry to electrical and anything in between. He was neat and precise. He was a proud member of the UMWA and proudly showed his pins to everyone. He had a keen mind and memory for details and dates. He enjoyed sports and was a loyal Yankee and Utah Jazz fan. Harry retired from work in Hiawatha in April 1979 to help care for his mother-in-law. He lovingly cared for his wife so that she could remain at home until her death.
Harry is survived by his two daughters, Joyce (Bryce) Brasher, Huntington and Carol Wolf, Springville; the following grandchildren, Myrna (Corey) Powell, Suzanne Brasher Parry, both of Cleveland, Robert (Kristie) Wolf, Springville; Joye (Cory) Wilcox, Cleveland; Nichole (Brant) Evans, Gilbert, Ariz.; Monique (Eric) Handberg, Springville and Reed Brasher, Lehi; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren with two more expected in the Fall; as well as his sister Arvella E. Wilberg of Castle Dale. He also has numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his loyal and caring friend Susan Ward, Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother, Andy and two sisters, Isabelle and Barbara, a grandson, Kurt Brasher and a great-grandson, Jarom Powell and his in-laws Robert and Olivia Whitehead who considered him a son.
Funeral services were held in the Cleveland LDS Ward Chapel on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. A viewing wa held Friday, the night before at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale from 6-7 p.m. and prior to the funeral service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial was in the Cleveland City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of Harry at www.fausettmortuary.com.
The family thanks the entire staff of Beehive Homes and the Hospice staff for their kind, gentle and professional care of Harry. Thank you, too, to Dr. Potter for his constant and continual care and for his friendship. To people of both Carbon and Emery counties thank you for being a friend, but especially to his neighbors, and the people of Cleveland thank you for being there when he was lonely and needed a soft place to fall. There are not words enough to express thanks and appreciation to Susan Ward for her steady, constant, kind and truly compassionate care that she rendered our Dad.
