PRICE-Hal Frederick Anderson, 76, passed away suddenly on March 23, 2010 at his home in Price. He was born Aug. 8, 1933 in Mohrland to Neldon Frederick and Velma (McKee) Anderson. He is a member of the LDS Church, where he was High Priest, Sunday School President and Ward Mission Leader, with several other callings. He married his sweetheart Velora (Anderson) Anderson on Aug. 29, 1956 in Wellington, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on their 24th anniversary.
He was raised in Huntington, he loved to hunt, fish and go camping which he has not been able to do for a long time; he sure did miss it. Hal was also a great mechanic and could fix almost anything placed in front of him. He was always finding something to tinker with, even ending up falling off the Carnival ticket booth while helping out his grandson. He was always there to help anyone that needed it.
He worked in the coal mines for nearly 50 years. Mostly at Hiawatha where he was a face boss and a shift boss for most of this time although under different management. Prior to his mining experiences, was seriously injured in an accident while working on the building of the Flaming Gorge dam. His biggest joy in life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Velora of nearly 54 years; five children. Ronald and (Rondolyn) Anderson of Nampa, Idaho; (Dennis) and Cindy Marshall of Price, Utah; (Bill) and Nelda Callor of Sacramento, Calif.; (Richard) and Dorothy Galberth of Salt Lake City, Utah; Rodney [Scott] and (Michelle) Anderson of Price, Utah; 28 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, with new arrivals coming soon; three sisters Ramona Zmerzlikar of Martin, Utah; (Richard) and Marlene Peterson of New Mexico; and (Bill) and Sandra Nichols of Price, Utah.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jerry and Harry Anderson and two grandchildren Shawn and Jennifer Anderson.
Funerals services were held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the Price 11th ward chapel (300 West and 500 South). A viewing was held on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at the church and on Saturday from 1:30-2:20 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
