HUNTINGTON-Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Julian Bowman, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2010 at home surrounded by his family.
Julian was born in Cokedale, Colo. on July 30, 1933 to Andrew and Della Martinez Bowman. He married Karolyle Majors on Aug. 3, 1956 in Elko, Nev.
In 1953, he served in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded several medals for his service. Upon his return, he worked for the Utah State Road Department for several years.
With the entrepreneurial spirit in his blood, he started Bowman Ready Mix, Inc. and was also an independent trucker. He ran a very successful business for more than 40 years.
As a member of the Emery County Sheriff’s Posse, he spent many days and nights helping those in need. Julian’s favorite hideout was with the “Wild Bunch” in Joe’s Valley with a stiff drink. In Joe’s Valley “it was always 5 o’clock somewhere” and it always started with a shot of “Young Crow.”
Julian enjoyed jeeping, hunting, fishing, boating, and snowmobiling (Crash King).
He is survived by his wife, Karolyle; son, J. Lyle; two daughters, Dolly (Drew) Wilberg, Deb Butler, all of Huntington; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Andrew; sister, Shirley Mogensen; granddaughter, Billie Joe Butler.
Graveside services will be held at the Huntington Cemetery on April 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome daily. Friends are welcome to share memories of “Julian” at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
Friends and family are invited to attend a luncheon at his home after the services to celebrate his life.
