PRICE-Our loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Betty Jean Stoddard Jennings, age 82, passed away peacefully April 9, 2010 at Beehive Homes in Price. She was born Oct. 2, 1927 in Bancroft, Idaho to Ira and Opal Gay Coumerilh Stoddard.
Married Dell S. Jennings July 3, 1947 in Farmington, Utah, their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Dell preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2008.
Betty was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a longtime resident of Anacoda/Deer Lodge in Montana prior to moving to Carbon County in 1965. She was a graduate of the LDS Business College and a loyal employee of Price Trading for years.
Betty shared a genuine concern for everyone and she dedicated her life to the service of others. Her warmth and big smile brought great joy to those around her. She will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Survived by her three sons, Ira Dell (Mary) Jennings, Las Vegas, Nev., William Blaine (Barbara) Jennings, Magna, Utah, Eugene Raymond Jennings, Phoenix, Ariz; son-in-law, Doc Alcaraz, Price; sister, Fern Woodbury, Dallas, Texas; and many loving grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dell S. Jennings; daughter, Jill Alcaraz; infant son, Patrick; two sisters; two brothers, and two step-brothers.
Funeral service, Tuesday, April 13, 2010, 11 a.m., Price Fifth LDS Ward (545 East 400 North) Price. A viewing was held at Mitchell Funeral Home Monday evening from 7-8 p.m. and at the church Tuesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
