PRICE-Our loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Irene Germann Monahan, age 86, passed away peacefully April 12, 2010.
She was born Aug. 8, 1923 in Jersey City, N.J. to Charles and Irene MacMaster Germann.
Married Augustine A. Monahan Feb. 7, 1948 in Jersey City, N.J.; he preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2001. Irene loved to travel with her husband to the Air Force reunions all over the country. She had a great love for gardening, cooking, and spending Saturdays shopping with her niece and best friend Irene. She enjoyed going to the amusement parks with her grandchildren and spending time with her only son Danny whom she dearly loved. Irene looked forward to visiting with family and friends especially her weekly visits with cousins Ed and Jane. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and it was obvious by all the decorations in her home. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survived by her son, Dr. Daniel (Tiffni) Monahan, grandson, Daniel Monahan, all of Price; granddaughter, Julia Monahan, Santa Cruz, Calif.; niece, Lorraine Molinari, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; niece and best friend, Irene (Bill) Singerline, Piscataway, N.J.; great niece, Donna (Sandford) Smith, great-great-niece, Hailey Smith, both of Plantation, Fla.; and many loving cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers family suggest donations be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 5 South, Main, Helper; Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church 185 North Carbon Ave, Price, or Parkdale Care Center, 250 East 600 North, Price.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Augustine; sisters, Florence and Calleen.
Funeral Mass, Saturday, April 17, 2010, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church (5 South Main) Helper, Utah. Vigil service, Friday evening 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) Price, Utah. Family was at Mitchell’s Friday and Saturday one hour prior to service. Entombment, Mt.
