Softball Tourney
An icebreaker softball tournament will be held on April 23-24 at the Huntington Complex. The tournament is called Bats for Beauty. It is a fundraiser tourney for Little Miss Cambrie Bennett and Miss Emery Shelby Huntington. The cost per team is $250. There will be first, second and third place for the winners. White Wash Sand Dunes filming dates now set
The White Wash Sand Dunes open OHV area will be closed for filming May 20th – May 27th 2010. The Ruby Ranch Road, as well as all the other roads and trails in the area will remain open for visitor use. For example, the roads and trails in the Crystal Geyser area will be available for motorized use, and may be used as an alternative to the White Wash Sand Dunes.
Filming dates are subject to change. Please check for updates posted at www.discovermoab.com/atv.htm before planning a trip to the White Wash Sand Dunes.

Cleveland Spring Expo
Cleveland Town will be celebrating the opening of their new Fire Station on Sat. May 1st.
The Ribbon cutting will take place at 9:30 a.m. with the Cleveland Spring Expo to follow from 10 a.m.

Health Career Exploration Camp At Southern Utah University
High School students interested in a future health care career are invited to participate in the Health Career Exploration Camp at Southern Utah University. The camp will take place June 7 – 9 and is open to all 9th – 12th grade high school students who have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Cost for the camp is $100.00, which includes housing during the camp at The Eccles Living & Learning Center, meals, workshop supplies and a camp t-shirt. Scholarships are available to reduce or waive the cost of camp for individuals who qualify based on household income. Transportation to and from Southern Utah University is up to the individual attendee.

Raylon Harr is the three year old child who fell from a second story window on March 4 after pushing a window screen out of its frame.
Raylon has had surgery on his head to remove a blood clot from his brain and to reconstruct his skull.
It truly is a miracle that he is still with us, and that our family can continue to look forward to his growing and learning.
Our family does what we can for each other, however the bills associated with this accident will be more than what we can take care of alone.

Free Resource Makes Applying for Student Financial Aid Easier
Self-guided presentation walks students through the sometimes-confusing financial aid application process. The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority is very pleased to announce “Navigating the FAFSA,” a much-needed new resource to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly called the “FAFSA”). This tool is a self-directed presentation that guides students through topics explaining the purpose of the FAFSA, how to obtain a PIN to sign their FAFSA securely online, what information should be gathered, how to complete the FAFSA, and how to submit it. Easily found on the front page of the UHEAA website, this presentation gives high school counselors and financial aid professionals another tool to help their students. CASA Volunteers Needed
Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children.
