FERRON-Norma O. Fox, age 81, passed away April 19, 2010 in Provo, Utah. Norma was born May 30, 1928, to Travus and Jessie Hitchcock Olsen. She was born and raised in Rochester (Moore), Utah graduating from South Emery High.
She met Royal Fox on a blind date after he had returned from serving in the U.S. Navy. They married Aug. 6, 1946, in Rochester. Their marriage was solemnized May 22, 1951 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children. Royal passed away Aug. 11, 1983.
Norma was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in many capacities on both Ward and Stake levels. She worked as a secretary for the Credit Union in Huntington, Wilcox Insurance, and Ferron City. She was a Deputy-Clerk at the County Clerk’s Office. After working in the clerk’s office for 14 years, she was then appointed to be Emery County’s first full-time County Auditor.
She enjoyed spending time as a family at ballgames, rodeos, and camping. Her hobbies included her children and grandchildren, always attending their activities. Whether it was sports, music, or the rodeo, she was there supporting them. She was always putting her family first. Crocheting and quilting were also among her hobbies. She loved the Utah Jazz and was their biggest fan.
Norma is survived by her four children: Paula (Lee) Caldwell of Ferron, Lyn (David) Morgan of Ferron, Eddie (Edna) Fox of Lawrence, and Randy (Kaylynne) Fox of Ferron; a sister, Doris (Clyde) Luke; a brother-in-law, David (Helen) Fox; a sister-in-law, Lecta Olsen; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Royal; a brother, Boyd Olsen; and a sister-in-law, Stella Worthen.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Millsite LDS Ward Church (35 West 200 North, Ferron). There was a viewing Friday, April 23, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 North Center Street, Castle Dale) and Saturday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment was in the Ferron City Cemetery. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of Norma at www.fausettmortuary.com.
