PRICE-Donetta Mortensen Melton, age 88, passed away May 6, 2010. Donetta was born May 3, 1922, as the third of 15 children born to Heber J. Grant and Maude May Holt Mortensen in Emery Town where she was also raised.
She married Harrison J. Melton in 1938 in Castle Dale. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She was a homemaker who always put her family first. Music was her life and she owned and operated her own studio for many years, where she taught piano and guitar. She also loved to crochet, but most of all she will be remembered as someone who always gave service to others.
Donetta is survived by a granddaughter, Lori Bradfield; four great-grandchildren: Amanda Lee, Ashlee Nicole, Katrina Suzanne, and Kristen Shanee; two great-great-grandchildren: Jayda Rochelle and Annikah. Also survived by siblings: Bell Anderson of Emery, Walter Mortensen of California, Gay Jensen of Salt Lake City, Leon Mortensen of Manti, Michael Mortensen of Salt Lake City, Sandy Mortensen of Emery Town, Toni May Hoffman of Bountiful, and LaRena Collard of Huntington.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Harry Lee Melton; grandson, Harry J. Melton; sister, Cleona Mortensen: and brothers: DeVon, Lyle G., Halley J., Tommy Lou, and George H. Mortensen.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Price Seventh and Eighth LDS Ward Church (995 E. 700 N.). There will be a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Castle Dale Cemetery at 2 p.m. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
