Jean and Jerry moved their family to Price in 1961, while he was working as a communications and electronics technician for Utah Power and Light. He retired from UP&L after 30 years of service.
Jerry was very intelligent. His passion for reading gave him the knowledge and ability to pursue his many varied interests. He was an all round do-it-yourself guy. He could fix anything. He built many things including microwave ovens, ham radios, ski boats, campers, and a family cabin in Scofield, Utah.
He was an entrepreneur of several small businesses over the years, of which many may remember his boat shop, PEMCO Stereo Shop, a telephone answering service, and a mobile 2-way radio system business. He is most recently known for his beautiful greenhouse, “Riverside Gardens Nursery” in Carbonville, Utah.
For years Jerry enjoyed visiting with many friends at the local coffee shops. From the Hi-Spot to the Husky and then Market Express. He is sure to be remembered there, along with his side kick “Tisha” where he often made them laugh with his latest jokes or crazy hats.
He was preceded in death by his mother LaRue Swindle, father Theron Gerrard, and step-father Roscoe Swindle.
He will be fondly remembered by his wife: Vera Jean Egan Gerrard, and their seven children: Connie (Jeff) Smith, Darrell (Linda) Gerrard, Debbie DiRusso, Lori (Alan) Peterson, Kristi (Jeff) Green, Tammy (Craig) Atwood, and Dave (Stephanie) Gerrard.
