HELPER-Prominent businessman and respected friend, Frank Tomsic Jr. age 94, passed away June 11, 2010 at his home in Helper. He was born Aug. 15, 1915 in Raton, N.M. to Frank M. and Julia Papez Tomsic. Married Jeanette Benash Sept. 15, 1940 in Montrose, Colo., she died April 22, 1988.
Later married Matilda Sanders, she died Sept. 3, 2001.
Frank was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was a longtime resident of Carbon County where he owned and operated Frank’s Glass Shop in Helper for many years. Frank was a member of SNPJ Lodge #689, Helper Lions, Life Member Price Elks Lodge #1550, and the Western Slavonic Association.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Ronneberg, Tidewater, Ore.; sisters, Virginia Tasker, and Alice Magann, both of Helper; granddaughter, Cindy (Andy) Newell, Tucson, Arizs.; grandson, Marty Newberry, Tidewater, Ore.; two great-grandchildren Bryana and Niki Newell; brother in law, John (Marge) Benash, Helper; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Tomsic, Moab, Marge Tomsic, Anchorage, Alaska; aunt, Albina Papez, Walsenburg, Colo..
Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Julia and Mili; two brothers, John and Eddie Tomsic; and grandson, Randy. Funeral Mass, Friday, June 18, 2010, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper. Vigil service, Thursday evening 7 p.m. at the church in Helper. Family will be at the church Thursday and Friday one hour prior to service. Committal, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
