HELPER/HUNTINGTON- Joseph Orin Otteson, age 86, passed away June 7, 2010 at his home in Helper.
He was the youngest of four children born to Orin and Ella Lucille Grange Otteson on Feb. 11, 1924 in Huntington, Utah.
Shortly after graduation from North Emery High School in 1942, he enlisted in the US Army where he served in the South Pacific and the Philippines.
Joe married Dora Johnson and they were blessed with three children, Larry, Kathleen and David. Later married Marie Eichers and they had three children, Karen, Kevin and Dennis. In February of 1984, he married Della Jean Fuller in Las Vegas, Nev. and together they’ve shared many special occasions.
Joe was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in numerous capacities. He worked as an electrician for the Eighth District Electrical Union Local #354 for more than 52 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and caring for his family. Joe was a well respected man who will be dearly missed by all.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Della Jean Otteson, Helper; sister, Flo Speltz, Carson City, Nev.; children, Larry Otteson, Kathleen Mauger, and David Otteson, all of Salt Lake City, Utah; Karen Grenz, Central Valley, Utah; Kevin Otteson, Salt Lake City, Utah; Dennis Otteson, Heriman, Utah; special uncle, Bill Grange, Boise, Idaho; and many loving grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred Otteson; and sister Beth Lucille Jackson.
Funeral service, Thursday, June 10, 2010, 11 a.m., Huntington LDS Stake Center. Family was at the church Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of “Joe” online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
