Thanks to the Entrepreneurs

Some people think that the world economy is made up of a huge pot of gold and we each get a little share of it. Some get a little more than others, or maybe a lot more, according to some weird unfair quirk of fortune. The liberals are especially affected by this distortion of reality. Wealth manifests itself in material goods (and in modern times in its paper representations), the more material goods that a society creates the more wealth the people have. For example, look at all the things that Americans have compared to most of the world. We have two or three cars, a TV in each room, computers, we have too much food that hangs around our belts, etc. The reality is that all wealth is created. About the only thing that does not decay is gold. If buried for thousands of years, it comes out of the ground just like the ancients made it. The rest of the stuff we accumulate eventually wears out and ends up in the county dump and decays. If we fail to create more things to replace the waste, we would all have a little less each year. If we tried to share the wealth from the so called “great pot” that was around at the time of America’s Civil War, we would all have very little.
But Americans have created a system that allows anyone who understands and has the ambition, the opportunity to create a vast store of wealth for themselves and their families. For 200 years Americans have struck out on their own reaching for a dream. They have discovered, invented, produced, a great resource of material goods that we all benefit from. Hospitals, libraries, supermarkets, department stores, home improvement centers, home appliance stores, restaurants, are full of goods that were created in the hopes that someone could get rich. The entrepreneurial spirit in America’s four percent of the world has created more wealth than all the rest of the world combined. Hard work, thrift, the willingness to take a calculated risk, and honesty in our business dealings, are qualities that have been passed down from the adventurous souls that made Americans different, and drove American businessmen to create the goods and services we all enjoy today. There are few people that deserve more respect than the successful business man that has discovered a way to serve others by creating something that makes our lives easier or better in some way. Thank you Mr. or Mrs. and Ms. Entrepreneur. Your dreams have made my life better.
