PRICE-Glenn E. Silvis, age 68, passed away while doing what he loved on July 20, 2010. He was born Feb. 20, 1942 in Grape Bend, Kan. to Glenn and Mildred Hollaway Silvis. On Oct. 25, 1986 he married Linda Vuksinick in Price.
Glenn honorably served his country in Vietnam where he was awarded the purple heart. He was a distinguished veteran and a staunch supporter of many veteran programs. He dedicated his life to the service of others and was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Miner’s Post #2379 of Price and the American Legion Post #71 of Salt Lake City. Glenn served on the All State Team from 2004-2006 as the Post Commander and in 2002-2003 he served on the All American Team as the State Commander.
Glenn graduated from John Madison High School in Oklahoma City. He was a longtime resident of Carbon County and a former employee of Tram Electric. He enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona and going to Wendover and Mesquite. Glenn loved golfing with his family and riding his Harley with his buddies.
He will be dearly missed by his family, a community of friends, and especially his grandkids who were the love of his life.
Survived by his wife, Linda Silvis, Price; his children, Gregory Silvis, Leslie Miller, both of Oklahoma; Robert (Stephanie) Vuksinick, Tooele, Richard (Michelle) Vuksinick, West Jordan, Martin (Cheryl) Vuksinick, Kearns, Jason Hamann, West Valley; sisters, Judy Shaffer, Dallas, Texas, Jane (Bruce) McCune, Overland Park, Kan.; special riding buddies, Brent, Sam and Bruce; nine grandchildren, Marty, Lessa, Andi, Dayna, Danielle, Christian, Brandy, Shawn and Anastacia; six great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends who will dearly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service, Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Monday evening from 7-8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery, with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
