PANGUITCH, UTAH-Ramona Staker Howard died peacefully on July 22, 2010 in Panguitch, Utah.
She was born May 22, 1930 in Cleveland, Utah to Byron Wilford and Rachel Jones Staker. She married Aaron Bruce Howard on Dec. 29, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized on March 27, 1976 in the St. George Temple. He preceded her in death May 1, 1988.
Ramona was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Kazan for a number of years. After retiring from the Garfield Memorial Hospital as a medical transcriptionist, she became an avid quilter and enjoyed spending time with the quilting ladies in Panguitch. She felt her greatest blessings were her seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Clark Bruce and Flora Pope Howard, Panguitch; seven grandchildren, Cassie (Michael) Franklin, Corral Pink Sand Dunes; Andrea (Dameon) Julander, Cedar City; Patricia Howard, Orem; Aaron (Suzette) Howard, Price; Catherine (Gary) Bigelow, Murray; Byron (Ashley) Howard, St. George; Adam (Jasmine) Howard, Price; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters : Betty Anderson, Bountiful; Karen (Larry) Leonard, Price; and sister-in-law: Ruth Staker, Centerville. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Earl Staker and Jack Staker.
The family extends a special thanks to Garfield Memorial Hospital, Hospice and Long Term Care Center staff.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Panguitch Stake Center, 550 South, 100 West, Panguitch, Utah. Friends may call Tuesday at the stake center from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Huntington City Cemetery Tuesday, at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
