Clawson residents have a day of fun and games

The citizens of Clawson gathered to have a celebration made up of kids games, an auction, a dinner and a flag retiring ceremony.
The children had fun eating shaved ice flavored with different flavors of syrup and eating pink cotton candy. Many of the children participated in several activities such as a game of ring toss, making decorative items, drawing pictures, making balloon animals and getting pictures painted on their faces.
Mari Jamison provided the snow cones and shaved ice, while Jerry Price was making cotton candy for the kids. A slight breeze was making some cotton candy fly in the air around the crowd. Jake Waddoups provided and made balloon figures for those that wanted a balloon.
The adults appeared to be having fun making the shaved ice, the cotton candy, the balloons, the art work for and with the children.
The auction was made up of items donated by more than 25 merchants from Emery County. The donated items ranged from gift certificates for video rentals, sets of tools, an I Pod, back to school items, kites, rifle scope with mount and a 20 gauge shot gun.
Travis Allen’s flare for being an auctioneer made the auction exciting and fun for everyone, especially for the children that had money. The money collected from the auction goes to the city of Clawson.
A few of those that donated to Clawson’s auction were Boyd’s Pharmacy, Industrial Electric, Alco, Stewarts, Variety Video, Big Mama’s Pizza, Food Ranch, J&D Auto, Ferron Co-op, Jones Ace Hardware, Gillys, Pat’s Sewing Shop, The Grub Box, Emery Telcom, The Hair Clinic, Creative Floral and Gifts.
The city of Clawson provided the barbecued beef, the hamburger buns, and the root beer for the dinner. The citizens provided the casseroles, the salads and desserts.
The flag retiring ceremony did not happen due to the fact that the group that was supposed to provide the ceremony could not find enough members to participate.
One visitor, Dan Price came from as far away as Wellington to enjoy the Clawson Celebration.
Everyone enjoyed the games, the auction and the dinner.
