Recently underage tobacco compliance checks took place in Emery County. The Southeastern Utah District Health Department, Four Corners Behavioral Health and Emery County Sheriff’s office, would like to congratulate the tobacco retailers throughout Emery County. When the last round of required underage tobacco compliance checks was completed, there was not a single underage sale.
The health department said, “We want to recognize the efforts of store owners, managers and employees to reduce youth access to tobacco products. According to the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids each day 4,000 youth under the age of 18 try tobacco for the first time. Of those, one-third, will die from a tobacco related disease.
