PRICE-Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Elmo “Duke” Priano, age 81, passed away peacefully Oct. 25, 2010 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.
He was born Aug. 30, 1929 in Spring Canyon, Utah to Anton S. Priano and Leah E. Colton. Married Helen June Stevens, Jan. 30, 1954 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Elmo was a lifelong resident of Carbon County where he attended local schools and received a certificate of welding from the College of Eastern Utah. He was a dedicated coal miner who worked in various mines in the area. He was a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America District #22. He was proud of his country and honorably served in the US Army during Korea. Elmo loved 4-wheeling and in his younger years he was an avid motorcycle rider. He loved wintering in Arizona, boating on Lake Powell, camping and tinkering in his garage. He loved working in his yard and his home was a welcoming place for all to enjoy. His family was the single most important thing in his life and he cherished every moment he spent with them. “Duke” would go to any length to help his family, friends, neighbors or anyone in need.
Survived by his loving wife, Helen Priano, Price; children, Janet Sanchez, Price; Elaine (Eric) Allred, Helper; Todd E. (Shelly) Priano, Price; nine grandchildren, Tory, Nikki, Michael, Jessica, Deric, Anthony, Heather, Dylan and Chance; six great-grandchildren, November, Colton, Jayden, Mike, Costa and Dominic.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lloyd W. Priano; mother, Leah and step-father, Homer (Rip) Thomas; father, Tony and step-mother, Carmella Priano; sister, Geraldine S. Pierce; brothers, Anthony and James R. Priano.
Funeral service was held, Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main) in Price. Family was at Mitchell’s Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends and family are welcome daily and may share memories of Elmo online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
