The National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony took place the night of Oct, 20, at 6:30 p.m. The ceremony started out with a song from the honor choir called “Canon of Praise” by Pachelbel. The choir did a great job on the song and really impressed the crowd. Afterward Mrs. Barnett and Mrs. Roberts welcomed the parents and told them about how the National Junior Honor Society worked. Then came the talents. A dance routine was performed by Brittnee Murdoch, Madison Winn, and Makalie Morgan to a song called “Magic” by B.O.B. It was a really fun dance. Then a song called “Poor Wayfaring Stranger” was sung by Kaitlyn Gilson, accompanied by Eileen Lofthouse. She did a wonderful job and her voice sounded amazing. A piano solo was then performed by Madelyn Carter. She played “Elfin Dance” by Edward Grieg, and she played fabulous. Savannah Woolsey then sang, “Castle on a Cloud”, and performed flawlessly. Evan Swenson also did a piano solo and played “The Pink Panther,” it was very intriguing. The honor society presidency lit candles and gave small speeches on scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship, with the success of not lighting anything on fire. After the candle lighting ceremony the new inductees stood and recited the National Junior Honor Society pledge, then filed down to receive their certificate and shake the principal’s hand. Then Principal Johnson gave a very inspiring talk about our futures, and recited a poem by Robert Frost called “The Road Not Taken.” At the end of the Induction Ceremony they served ice cream and brownies for refreshments, and everyone sat down to talk, then slowly everyone left from a very happy night.
