WEST VALLEY CITY-Margaret Georgina Banasky, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, went to be with our dear lord and her husband Pete on Nov. 17, 2010 after a short battle with cancer. “Marge,” as everyone called her, lived in West Valley City with her daughter and son-in-law Bruce and Georgina Thayn.
Marge was born Aug. 8, 1932 in Vancouver. B.C., Canada, the daughter of David Thompson and Edythe Margaret Smith. Marge married Gerald (Pete) Banasky on Dec. 15, 1956, after meeting on a blind date in Vancouver. She became a United States citizen in 1963. Mom loved to camp and fish, travel and was an excellent bowler proudly being a member of the 700 club. She loved her “boys,” her sons-in-law and her grandsons. Nana was at every school activity and sporting event she could get to.
Marge is survived by her daughters, Katie (Bill) Krieger of Kemmerer Wyo; Edythe (Mike) Kuhn of North Ogden Utah, Georgina (Bruce) Thayn of West Valley.
She had five grandsons, Brandon (Becca) Kuhn, David Kuhn, Justin Krieger, Miles Krieger and Cody Thayn. She is also survived by a brother David (Marilyn) Smith of Kelowna, B.C., Canada, five nieces and nephews and her very special friends Don and Mary Lien.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband Pete, her parents and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Beverly Banasky. Funeral service Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, 11 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4290 West 5415 South, Kearns Utah. The family met with friends one half hour prior to the service. Burial was at Mountain View Cemetery, Helper Utah at a later date.
