WELLINGTON-Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Alonzo “Lon” Neldon Thayn, age 83, passed away Jan. 22, 2011.
He was born July 22, 1927 in Wellington, Utah to George Lester and Mary Worley Thayn. He married Loretta Sutherland on April 21, 1951. They were married for 55 years and lived together most of their lives on their farm in Coal Creek.
Lon proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver and then as a mechanic/electrician in the coal mines. Lon valued the meaning of hard work, but he always found time to work on the farm and enjoy his family.
He loved to read Louis L’Amour books and watch John Wayne movies. He never complained and always tried to see the positive side of things. Lon was a truly kind person who had a gentle nature. He was loved, and will be missed by many. His hand shake was his word and everyone will remember him for his integrity.
