Sheriff’s Office arrests homicide suspect from Texas
The Emery County Sheriff’s Office was involved in the arrest of a wanted man from Texas on Thursday. Officer Grey from the Fort Worth, Texas police department called the Emery County dispatch to let them know a homicide suspect out of Texas had made a phone call from the West Winds Truck stop in Green River. The suspect was driving a 2005 White Freightliner pulling a trailer and the tractor trailer needed to be preserved as part of a crime scene. Several deputies as well as the Utah Highway Patrol responded. Deputy Blake Gardner, Deputy Doug Downard, Trooper Clarence Smith, Sheriff Greg Funk, Capts. Kyle Ekker and Jeff Thomas, and Lt. Bob Blackburn responded as well as Sgt. Steve Salas. Det. John Barnett was called out to process the scene. Deputy Gardner took the suspect into custody. The suspect was checked by the local physicians assistant, Kim McFarlane as the subject said he was diabetic and having problems. S & S Towing responded and took the vehicle and trailer to the county road shed in Green River. Deputy Kurt Price and Sheriff Funk transported the subject to the jail in Castle Dale. He was listed as Gregory Renaldo Thompson, DOB 11’22’66 out of Fort Worth, Texas.
Millsite Golf Academy
A beginners golf class will be held Feb. 22 and run through March 22 at 6 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center for ages 8’99. This class will teach you golf terminology, etiquette, how to use golf clubs and much more information. A $25 fee is required. Bring your clubs with you. If you don’t have clubs, they will be provided. Sponsors, golf clubs and cash donations are welcome. The class will be taught by Jordan Leonard and Carl Sitterud.
