The lady Pirates hosted the lady Raiders of Whitehorse on Friday night in a region 19 battle on the hardwood. The lady Pirates prevailed in a game that saw a twenty point 3rd quarter lead steadily evaporate into a 11 point win. The lady Pirates shot well from the floor and went 11 for 14 at the line (78 percent).
Megan Hatt continued her offensive production with a game high 23 points while Michaela Hughes worked the middle with 14 points and Cady Mecham added 8.
The remainder of the lady Pirates worked well in their respective positions with Cassi Mecham and Jamie Johnson adding two each while Melissa Antillon added 6 and Sarah Swalberg 4.
Green River’s 21 point 2nd quarter output matched the lady Raiders total points at half time but their 4th quarter production slipped as the Raiders bettered them by 4. Though the game wasn’t that close on the score board, the feel in the stands was different. The Homecoming crowd was loud and there was a feeling of urgency as the season begins to wind down. The Whitehorse lady Raiders play well and it took a team effort by the lady Pirates to hold them at bay.
This was a good win for the lady Pirates who now have to battle the lady Raiders on their home court and host the Navajo Mountain lady Jaguars at home to see how things shake out in the region standings.
