FERRON – Monte Gee, age 56, passed away Feb. 9, 2011. Monte was born Oct. 26, 1954, to Lester and Winnifred Burston Gee in Payson, Utah. He grew up in Santaquin graduating
from Payson High in 1973 where he excelled as a baseball player. Monte married Sandra Stewart on May 22, 1975, in Spanish Fork, Utah.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on Feb. 6, 1998.
Monte attended Trade Tech in Orem where he learned the trade of an electrician. He worked at the Hunter Power Plant for 28 years. He was an active member of the LDS church, and was a member of the SFW for many years. Monte was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed coaching baseball.
However, his greatest love was his family. He especially loved his grandchildren.
Monte will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He always cared for others and would do anything for anyone.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; four children: Amie (Ryan) Leonhardt of Providence, Justin (Bethany) Gee of St. George, Jeremy (Michelle) Gee of Perry, and Elder Jordan Gee who is currently serving an LDS mission in Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, Ted, Ron, and Lynn Gee; one sister, Carol Coombs; and nine grandchildren. His was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Boyd and Merril.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb., 14, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Ferron LDS Stake Center (555 South 400 West). There was a viewing Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the church and on Monday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. prior to the services also at the church. Interment was in the Salem City Cemetery (130 E. 965 S.).
