Celebration for State Champs
A community celebration will be held on March 3 at the Emery High auditorium for the 3A state champs Emery High Lady Spartans. It will be at 7 p.m. There will be a program, slide show and the players will speak. Refreshments will be served. Come out and show your support for the Lady Spartans basketball team.
Governor Herbert to visit Lincoln Dinner
The Emery County Republican party will host their Lincoln Day dinner on March 5 at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the San Rafael. It will be a steak dinner for $25. Call to reserve your spot. Herbert said, “I always look forward to getting away to join the good people of Emery County for the Lincoln Day dinner. Not only will it be a highlight in my week, it’s also a wonderful opportunity to recognize the example and leadership of Abraham Lincoln, not to mention a great meal as well. In the beauty of the red rock, we celebrate our association as Republicans, united by common principles like limited government, self-determination and principled leadership. It’s what grassroots politics is all about.”
Weather Spotter
A weather spotter training class will be held at the Emery County Sheriff’s Office on March 16 at 5 p.m. Spotter training consists of a powerpoint show presented by a forecaster from the National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office, Salt Lake City. Winter storms, fire weather, marine weather, flash floods and severe thunderstorms will be covered. Information will be shared on what weather events to report and how to report them. Safety and preparedness will also be addressed. The entire presentation will be around one hour. Everyone welcome.
DUP District Convention
Emery County will host the district convention for the Daughters of Utah Pioneers at the Museum of the San Rafael on March 12. Book sales will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the officers meeting from 9:15-10:15 a.m. This meeting is for all camp and company officers. The general meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m., this meeting is for all members of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. The guest keynote speaker will be Bettie Barton, President of the International Daughters of Utah Pioneers. There will be music, dancing entertainment, and displays of journals and scrapbooks and preservation of histories, both old and new. A luncheon will follow the general meeting.
