Dora Diantha Olson Mortensen passed away of natural causes in Salt Lake City, Utah on Feb. 25 at the age of 94. Dora was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Wellington, Utah to John Irvin Olson and Reva Watt Olson. She was the last of 10 siblings, and preceded in death by; James Olson, Helen Hanna (Jack), Donna Nick (Joe), Betty Olson, Dale Olson, Clayton Olson, Roy and Fay Olson (twins), and Clinton Olson.
Dora married Wallace Mortensen on Jan. 5, 1947, and was later sealed to him in the LDS temple. They had four sons; Lane (1947-1965), Rickie (1949 died at birth), Kent (1952 living) and Keith (1953 died at birth). She is survived by her son Kent, grandsons; Jace Mortensen, Jacob Mortensen (Ashley), Lamar Day (Taryn), granddaughter; Shae Sheridan (Kevin), great grand-children; Tayden Mortensen, Kaydance Mortensen, Avarie Sheridan, Branson Sheridan, Madison Day, Landon Day, Logan Day and Lincoln Day.
Dora and her nine siblings were raised on their family farm in Miller Creek, Utah. As a young woman Dora operated a ship crane in Bremerton, Ore. during World War II. Dora was a loving mother and relished raising her sons. She reflected on her love for her children up through her final days on Earth. Dora was known for her fabulous apple pie and was an accomplished cook. She loved embroidery and crochet and furnished the family with wonderful pillow cases. Her sweet spirit will be missed as she was kind and thoughtful to all.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Price City Cemetery at 11 a.m. A viewing will be Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at Fausett Mortuary in Price.
