Emery boys basketball season comes to an end

The 3-A boy’s basketball season came to an end with the Wasatch High Wasps defeating the Morgan High Trojans 44-33 to win the 2010-11 state championship. Wasatch was the odds-on favorite to win the title this season and was ranked number one by both Salt Lake City newspapers all season.
Wasatch started their title quest by defeating the Emery High Spartans in Heber City on Feb. 18 by a score of 79-55. Wasatch then defeated Cedar High 53-43 last Thursday and Judge Memorial 55-42 on Friday to get to the title game.
Against Emery, Wasatch jumped to an early lead and then never looked back. Wasatch outscored Emery 35-15 in the first half and then cruised to the win.
Nick Stoddard led the Spartans in scoring for the first time this season as he ended the game with 14 points. Ty Benson and Kash Jewkes scored 12 points each in the game with Kashe Potter scoring five points. Dallon Cologie and Gage Bell each scored four points with Chance Huntington and Quinn Montgomery scoring two points each.
Other results of region 12 teams include Manti losing to Morgan on that first night by a score of 81-50 and Union defeating Juab 58-50. Richfield defeated Park City 54-42 and then lost to Morgan 53-35. North Sanpete defeated Carbon 67-46 and then lost to Judge Memorial 53-35. it was not a particularly good year for region 12 teams.
Desert Hills defeated Judge Memorial 54-43 to finish in third place.
