The Emery County Business Chamber is planning its March Lunch and Learn meeting. It will be held on March 15 at noon at the Museum of the San Rafael.
The featured speaker for this lunch will be Alan Christensen who is an expert on marketing your business on the web and making sure your business has a web presence and email. The Emery County Business Chamber is excited to have Christensen attend the March Lunch and Learn to offer his insight into business marketing.
Christensen is the Director of the Utah Small Business Development Center and Custom Fit Training at Snow College. Christensen has been employed at Snow College since 2002. He serves a dual role at Snow College as director for the Utah Small Business Development Center and as director for the Custom Fit Training program.
As a regional director for the Utah Small Business Development Center at Snow College, Christensen organizes and oversees training and counseling efforts serving both pre-venture and existing business clients throughout a six-county region of central Utah. He also spends a significant amount of time personally consulting with small businesses. Several of his clients have been recognized for their success by entities such as the Utah SBDC network, the U.S. Small Business Administration and Utah Science, Technology and Research program.
In 2005 and again in 2010 Christensen was recognized nationally by the Association of Small Business Development Centers as the “State Star” for the Utah SBDC.
As director for Custom Fit Training he oversees efforts to assist area businesses in securing training and education solutions to meet the ever-changing needs of their workforce. This results in training for over 1,000 employees in hundreds of small businesses each year in central Utah.
Christensen is certified as a training facilitator by three of the most widely recognized names in Entrepreneurial and Leadership training: The NxLeveL Educational Foundation, The Kauffman Foundation’s FastTrac program, and Franklin Covey. He has been an adjunct instructor for Snow College, Utah State University and Dixie State College.
Christensen performed undergraduate studies at Utah Valley State College where he graduated Cum Laude, earning a degree in business management. He completed graduate work at Utah State University graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Master’s of Education in Instructional Technology with a distance learning emphasis.
As a successful entrepreneur he has started, owned or otherwise been involved in numerous business ventures. Prior to being appointed to the SBDC he was the marketing director for a Ford and Mercury automobile dealership.
Christensen is married to the former Rebecca Leavitt. They have five children and reside in Sanpete County. Leisure activities he enjoys include camping, hunting, fishing, painting, coaching youth soccer, and playing with his children. His second language is Japanese. Christensen enjoys active involvement in the community and in his church.
