LAYTON, UTAH-Walter Ernst Henzi Jr. passed away March 3, 2011 in Layton, Utah. He was born Oct. 20, 1924 in Castle Dale, Emery County, Utah to Walter Ernst and Mary Emily Harris Henzi.
He graduated from Central High School in May of 1942 and was drafted into the Army-Air Force in February 1943 and served in the 90th Maintenance Compliments Squadron assigned to the 9th Air Force during World War II. He served in England, France and Germany.
Following the war he attended LDS Business College and the University of Utah.
He married the love of his life, Beth Jensen, in Cleveland, Emery County, Utah on Dec. 13, 1947. They were later sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on Aug. 28, 1958.
He is survived by his six children; Diann (Kent) Fryer, Janell (Clay) Perschon, Jill (Randy) Voss, Mark (Anna) Henzi, Cara (Tim) Bradshaw, Todd (Cindy) Henzi, 20 grandchildren, and 20 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beth, and two sisters, Lucile Sillitoe and Mary Foderero.
He worked at HAFB as a packaging design engineer retiring in 1983. He resided in Layton from 1951 until 1985 and then he and his wife Beth moved to Ivins, Washington County, Utah.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. He enjoyed going to the temple often. His greatest calling was serving as a kind, loving husband, father, and friend.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Fausett Mortuary, 710 North Center Street, Castle Dale, Utah. A visitation will be held Saturday from 12-12:45 p.m. at the Mortuary, prior to services. Interment will be at the Castle Dale Cemetery.
