PRICE-Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Donna M. White passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 16, 2011. She was 95.
She was born in Scofield, Utah, Aug. 13, 1915 to John and Jennie Davis; the third of five children and lived in Scofield, Helper, and Standardville, Utah.
Donna graduated from Carbon High School in 1933.
Donna married Jack V. White on April 1, 1938 and had six children; Diane Adams (Bill), Jack White Jr.(Kathy), Earl White (Marsha), Nancy Turner (Ron), Mitzi White, and Paula Lewis (Glen). She had eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and loved her children and extended family more than life itself.
Donna and Jack moved to Redstone, Colo. in the late 1950s, and then Hayden, Colo. in the mid-1960s, where she made many, many friends and was a life-long member of the Hayden Chapter of Eastern Star. She returned to Price, Utah in 1993 and was an active member of the Carbon County Senior Citizen’s Center. One of her favorite outings during the past several years was to be taken on a drive to Standardville or Scofield, where she reminisced about her life in those special places. She had many interests and led a full and fulfilling life including camping, dancing, traveling, and playing cards. She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and could be heard cheering them on above all others. She had a special love of animals, especially the family dogs and cats, which all became “Sweetie” to her, regardless of their given name. She will be most remembered for her sense of humor. There was nothing she liked more than a good laugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack, and her son Jack Jr., as well as her brothers Bus, Stan, and Earl Davis and her sister, Ellen Wettlaufer. She is survived by her children; Diane, Salt Lake City, Utah; Earl, Grand Junction, Colo.; Nancy, Parker, Colo.; Mitzi, Houston, Texas; Paula, Price, Utah.
A memorial celebrating our Mom’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, Price, Utah. Friends may join the family one-half hour prior to the service. Interment Price City Cemetery, Price. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Carbon County Animal Shelter, Price, Utah.
