PRICE-Doris Jean Huskey Tavenner, age 70, passed away March 19, 2011 in Price.
She was born Feb. 5, 1941 in Cortez, Colorado to Victor and Velma Ragsdale Huskey.
Doris was a longtime resident of California where she retired as a clerk with CAL TRANS. After her retirement in 2004, Doris moved to Price where she opened and operated Daisy Mae Bead Shop. She loved to help others and while living in the area she volunteered as a hospice worker for Rocky Mountain Hospice.
Doris was an accomplished artist, painter, sculptor and quilter. Doris shared a great love for animals and she’ll always have a special place for her beloved Daisy Mae, Nipper, Precious and Scooter. She loved the outdoors especially fishing.
She is survived by her son, Gerald “Garry” Tavenner, Price; daughter, Dena (Mike) Rockenbach, Laguna Niguel, CA; grandchildren, Shawn and Amber Rockenbach; sister, Nadine (Donald) Files, Gr. Jct., CO; nephew, Byron Files, Gr. Jct, CO; nieces, Jami (Justin) Otto, Texas, Joni (Dave) Shephard, Gr. Jct, CO; step-brothers, Robert and Richard Knuckles; step-sister, Helen Valdez; niece, Kelly Bartholomew; nephew, Rob Knuckles.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside service, Saturday, March 26, 2011, 12 noon at the Dove Creek Cemetery in Dove Creek, Colorado. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price Thursday evening from 6-7 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price, Utah where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Doris online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
