WELLINGTON – Peter Allan Ferguson, age 80, passed away March 25, 2011 at home in Price. He was born March 6, 1931 in Beckley, W.V., to Robert and Annie Ferguson.
Married Emojeane Womeldorf Oct. 20, 1956 in Lexington, Va. She passed away Oct. 7, 2008.
Pete was a First Lt. in the 81st Airborne Division and graduated from VA Tech in 1958. He was a mine superintendant and vice president of mines for a variety of companies in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Alabama before moving to Carbon County in 1985 to work at Emery Coal.
He was an active member of the Price United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling, trap shooting, golfing, fishing and visiting family and friends.
He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survived by two daughters and one son, Cynthia (Mark) Whittington, Eugene, Ore.; Mary (Steve) Beckelhimer, Milton, W.V.; and David (Yeh) Ferguson, El Dorado Hills, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Dr. Cheryl Cook, Ashland, Ky.; and grandchildren, Sarah (Greg), Emily, Robert, Michael and Allyson; sisters-in-laws, JoAnne (Clyde) Allison, Roanoke, Va. and Mary Anna Womeldorf, Hendersonville, Tenn.; and his special Utah daughter, Rhonda Boylen. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jonathan Ferguson.
Memorial service Thursday, March 25, 2011, 2 p.m. Price United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
