Natasha Nicole Brinkerhoff, the daughter of Dave and Joan Brinkerhoff of Orangeville, is a 19 year old vibrant girl. In 2009 she was diagnosed with Melanoma skin cancer localized on her head. She beat that cancer like a champ.
But on April 5 she was diagnosed with stage IV Melanoma in her lungs, the most severe type of melanoma. She has tumors all over her lungs. Treatment will cost up to hundreds and thousands of dollars.

Utah Center for Rural Health Health Career Exploration Camp
High School students interested in a future health care career are invited to participate in the annual Health Career Exploration Camp at Southern Utah University. The camp will take place June 20 – 22 and is open to all 10th – 12th grade high school students who have a minimum 3.0 GPA (students who have finished their 9th grade year prior to camp are eligible to attend).
The camp is designed to teach students about health care careers in a hands-on learning environment with health care professionals. Participants will participate in 7 different workshops, as well as participate in the SUU-Rocky Mountain Power Challenge Course to learn leadership skills. Workshops are hands-on and teach students about careers such as: Veterinary, Dentistry, Doctor, Nurse, Pharmacist, Medical Technologist, Respiratory Therapy and many more. Group activities, including keynote speakers and an outdoor dinner and dance are also included.
Cost for the camp is $100.00, which includes housing during the camp at The Eccles Living & Learning Center, meals, workshop supplies and a camp t-shirt. Scholarships are available to reduce or waive the cost of camp for individuals who qualify based on household income. Transportation to and from Southern Utah University is up to the individual attendee.
The Health Career Exploration Camp is sponsored by the Utah Center for Rural Health at Southern Utah University. Manti La Sal National Forest Ferron Ranger District
Public comment is now being accepted on input to construct a one mile trail
in the Potters Pond/Miller Creek area. The proposal would decommission 1.0
mile of road that goes through several wetland areas which contributes to
the flow of the head waters of Paradise Creek.
The new trail would be open to OHV’s 60 inches or less with four or more low
pressure tires, including motorcycles.

Self-guided presentation walks students through the sometimes-confusing financial aid application process. The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority is very pleased to announce “Navigating the FAFSA,” a much-needed new resource to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly called the “FAFSA”). CASA Volunteers Needed
Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children.
