MILLER CREEK-Robert Lee Van Duren, age 69, passed away on April 18, 2011 at his home in Miller Creek.
He was born in Bend, Ore. on Nov.11, 1941 to William Darrel and Velma Pearl Franke Van Duren. Bob spent his early childhood in California and his youth and teenage years in the Monroe, Wash. area.
At the age of 17, Bob left home and joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed at several bases around the states and was also deployed to Korea and Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict.
He married Connie Pilcher in 1959, and they had two children Tina Marie and Dwayne Lee before their divorce. He later met and married Judy Lonowski in1970, and they had one daughter, Angela Maria before divorcing in 1986.
Bob then moved to Spanish Fork, Utah, where he met and married Lela Hacking on Nov. 17, 1988; their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple.
Bob loved family, kids, and grandkids. He thrived on work and he had a passion for cars, motorcycles, dune buggies, snowmobiles or anything with a motor that went fast. He relaxed by fishing, driving anywhere, reading the newspaper, and building things. Bob could fix or build anything, and he accomplished his big goal of building his own house when he moved to Price.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters, Nancy and Judy; two brothers, Joe and David.
Bob is survived by his wife Lela; his children, Tina Marie Rosemore (Dan Sansaver), Dwayne Lee (Emily) Van Duren, and Angela Marie (Jason) Gavin; his grandchildren, Cory, McCall, Brittany, TJ, Wayne, Olivia, Megan, John and James; and his great-grandson, Deegan; his brothers, Bill (Toni) Van Duren, Dick Van Duren, Jerry Van Duren, Jim Nelson, Ron Van Duren, and sister Carol (Jack) Schrock.
Funeral service, Friday, April 22, 2011, 10 a.m., Wellington Fourth LDS Ward Chapel, (50 North 100 East) in Wellington. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price and at the church in Wellington Friday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery in Vernal, Utah at 3 p.m on Friday, April 22, 2011. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Bob at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
