CASTLE DALE: Clyde Thompson, 81, returned home peacefully in Elmo, Utah, on Friday, April 29, 2011. He was born Sept. 13, 1929 in Ferron, Utah, to Willis Thompson and Clara Elizibeth Nelson. Clyde married Hettie Darlene Christensen on March 17, 1961 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Clyde was raised in Ferron, after his marriage to Darlene they moved to Castle Dale.
Clyde attended the College of Eastern Utah after high school. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Scout Leader for many years. Clyde served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter by trade and was handy in many ways. He had many hobbies and loved working with wood. He loved the mountains and fishing was a favorite pastime. Clyde loved wildlife, camping and spending time with his family. Clyde and Darlene spent many years on the weekends at the Olsen Ranch in Joe’s Valley.
Clyde served as County Commissioner for eight years. He had many friends and there wasn’t anyone who didn’t like him. His and Darlene’s home was a place everyone felt welcome. He will be greatly missed by all.
Clyde is survived by his children: Mark Wilberg of Castle Dale, Susan Ward of Cleveland and Louis Riche of Kenilworth, Don (Debbie) Wilberg of Castle Dale and Kaye (Jeff) Sitterud of Lawrence; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one sister: Joanne Christiansen of Salt lake City, Utah. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, and wife: Darlene.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center (35 E. Main). A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and on Thursday from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Castle Dale City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of Clyde at www.fausettmortuary.com.
