FERRON – Harold LaRoy Allred, age 76, passed away April 28, 2011. Perk, as he was known by to family and friends, was born Oct. 2, 1934, in Cleveland, Utah, to James Harold and LoRen Bryson Allred.
Perk was very patriotic. He was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Korean Conflict and two tours in Vietnam. He was honored to be in the honor guard both while in the service and with the American Legion. Perk worked as an insurance agent and a truck driver after retiring from the Air Force. He was an accomplished cowboy, farmer, and excellent horseman. He was well known for his cowboy and beautiful poetry. He was a hard worker, loved people, cared for others, and enjoyed the outdoors.
Perk is survived by his children: Terri King of Ferron, Shawn Allred, Nita (Ron) Knighton of Marietta, Ga., and Kenneth (Siami) Parsons of Yakima, Wash.; son-in-law, Charles Saey of Georgia; siblings: Robyn Bennen of Billings, Mont., James (Ina) Allred of West Valley City, Harolene “Butch” (Roy) Snyder also of West Valley City, Norma (Brent) Funk of Ferron, Mary DeAnne (Billy) Jones of McAlester, Okla., Bunny Shelton of West Jordan, and Jed (Becky) Allred of Ferron; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Harold and LoRen Bryson Allred and Norma Ray Allred; and two daughters, Patricia Saey and Kris Rigby.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the Ferron LDS Stake Center (555 South 400 West). There was a viewing Monday, May 2, 2011, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the stake center and Tuesday, from 11:30 a.m., – 12:30 p.m.at the church prior to the services. Interment will be in the Ferron City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Perk at www.fausettmortuary.com.
