EMERY, UTAH-Orvel Keith Allen age 81 passed away April 26, 2011, at the Gunnison Valley Hospital. He was born April 2, 1930 in Ferron Utah to Orvel Stanley and Sarah Lucille Keith Allen. He married the love of his life, Joyce Odean Box Allen Sept. 14, 1949 for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.
He spent his early childhood in Green River and Rochester (Moore), Utah. He graduated from South Emery High School, and owned and operated a dairy and later raised pure bred angus cattle.
He worked in local coal mines, RECCI, Dog Valley and Wilberg. Was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in many callings.
He had a love for his family and enjoyed many fishing, hunting, ATV and camping trips with them. He and Joyce spent many hours enjoying the desert and mountains on the many rides they took. He was a cowboy at heart and enjoyed working cattle on a good horse.
He is survived by his wife of 61 ½ years, Joyce, daughter Dixie and Dennis Davies, son Varian and Denise Allen, eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sisters, Winona Zwahlen, Mary Memmott, Lavon Jensen and Kathaleen Alder, brother LaVar Allen.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Uremovich and brother David Allen.
Funeral Service were held Saturday April 30, 2011, Emery Ward Chapel at 12 noon, with a viewing 10-11:30 a.m. prior to services. Internment was in the Emery Town Cemetery.
