Editor’s Notes: What are you doing now?

By By

In May, Emery High graduated another group of seniors. I’ve been wondering what happens to all those students each year. For the most part it looks like they don’t stay in the county because our county population never seems to grow. The county seems to stay pretty steady with 10,976 residents calculated from the 2010 census.
About a month ago we ran a story about Issac Bott who has become a veterinarian and has worked with reindeer reproduction. It was a very interesting story. I think there must be many more interesting stories out there regarding our former Emery County residents as well as current Emery County residents. I would like to start a “What are they doing now,” series which outlines former Emery County residents and where they are today. For this I will need the help of county residents who still live here and from those who have moved elsewhere. Where are you now? What are you doing? Are you a proud parent who has a son or daughter who has left the county and they are doing great things. Maybe they are homemakers, bankers, lawyers, football players, whatever. Would you like to update everyone on where they are and what they are doing.
We also have many people who grew up in Emery County and then left to make a living and have retired back to the county. I would like to tell their stories too. We have such a diverse and wonderful county with our people and our land is full of many attractions.
So please think this over and if you would like to submit a story and a picture or give me contact information for some of these people, then that will be great.
Contact the Progress office at 381-2431 or email editor@ecprogress.com or our website. www.ecprogress.com has contact information as well.
I think of my own children who have left the county and right now, out of eight children there’s only one left here in the county. There have been many seniors pass through the high school and they each have their own story to tell. Do you ever wonder what happened to everyone you went to school with. Who have you kept in contact with and why. Everything changes once you are out of school and it seems we don’t take the time to stay in contact with those people who were so important to us during our school years.
When you get old like me sometimes you can’t even remember the names of people any more. So if you would like to tell your story or that of your family members please feel free to contact us. Thank you.
