Vernell and Kathaleen Rowley Huntington Heritage Day’s Grand Marshals
Neal Vernell Rowley was born Dec. 7, 1934 to Walter Neal Rowley and Esther Grange Rowley. He graduated from North Emery High in 1953. In his youth he liked to play basketball and baseball; he also helped his dad on the farm. Vernell married Kathaleen Davis on Dec. 8 1955 in the Manti Temple. They made their home in Huntington. Vernell worked for the Forest Service, Black Diamond Mine, Wattis and Hiawatha where he retired in 1997. He spent many years farming. He was mayor of Huntington City 1997-2002 and also served on the Huntington City Council. Vernell is actively involved in the Emery County Historical Society, and has been instrumental in many historical preservation projects; he also served on the Emery County Public Lands Council. He enjoys exploring the desert and geocaching.
Kathaleen Davis Rowley was born Sept. 14, 1935 to Bill and Berniece Blackburn. She graduated from South Emery High in 1954. In her youth she liked to ride horses. She also spent her summers helping at the saw mill. Kathaleen worked for the Emery School District Lunch Program where she retired in 1998. She is very talented in quilting, crocheting, and sewing. She is also involved in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Vernell and Kathaleen have three children, Karen, Chris, and Lisa. They also participated in the Indian Placement Program, fostering a daughter Annie who lived with them for seven years.
Frank Hall, Huntington Heritage Days Honored Citizen
Frank L. Hall is a long time resident of Huntington. He married Norma Hansen Hall in the Logan Temple in 1942, she passed away in March 2011. He was a teacher and principal at North Emery High and Jr. High. He was a Patriarch for the Huntington Utah Stake and served many callings in his church. Frank and Norma are the parents of six children Alice and Fred Boone, Annette and Dan Wells, Lynn and Colleen Hall, Jeanie and Owen Olsen, Amy and Clark Bonner, and Nadine and Bill Cox.
