ELMO-Lucille Piccolo Willson, age 79, passed away Aug. 1, 2011. She was born May 3, 1932 to Joseph and Rose Lupo Piccolo. She married Oran Varden Willson on Feb. 16, 1951 in Huntington. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on July 22, 1978.
Lucille spent most of her childhood in Huntington Utah. She was a proud graduate of North Emery High. She worked for the American Oil Company as a bookkeeper. She married her high school sweetheart, Varden Willson. After many moves they finally settled in Elmo Utah. Varden and Lucille bought the local grocery store and Lucille ran it for the next 20 years. She also worked as a substitute teacher, store manager for Hickory Farms, secretary for the Huntington-Cleveland Irrigation Company, and secretary for Elmo Town.
Service was a common theme throughout her life. She served in the 4-H, Mutual, Relief Society and on the activities committee, but her favorite calling was in the Primary. She loved working with the children. She served as teacher, Primary President and Stake Primary President. She was very creative and talented. She had a passion for sewing, crocheting, quilting and cake decorating. She made countless wedding cakes for friends and family.
She was happiest when she was with her family. She went out of her way to make visits to grandma’s memorable. She will be remember for her kindness and generosity by her family and all that knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter, Boyd and Koree Willson, Shelley, Idaho.; Calvin and Loretta Willson, Logan; and Emily and David Tanner, Ogden. Also survived by eight loving grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.; sister, Gloria Winder, Price, two brothers; Joe and Barbara Piccolo Price, and John and MaNell Piccolo Idaho Falls, Idaho two sisters-in-law; Mary Piccolo Wellington and Vonda and Joseph Hadfield Tooele.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Varden Willson; and son, Robert Navon Willson also parents Joe and Rose Piccolo, brother Ron Piccolo and brother-in-law Evert Winder.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at 11 a.m., at the Elmo LDS Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held Friday, Aug. 5, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price (680 East 100 South) and Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Elmo Cemetery.
