Desert Thunder bullriding event coming to Castle Dale

By PATSY STODDARD Editor

Monroe Magnuson welcomes everyone to come to the Desert Thunder Bull Riding event on Nov. 26 from 7-10 p.m. This event is being held at the Blue Sage Arena in Castle Dale. There will be mutton bustin at 6:15 p.m. with a 50 pound weight limit. Magnuson said he became a rodeo announcer about two years ago and he and his friends just looked at each other this year when rodeo season was over and decided the show must go on, so they planned an event for Emery County. This will be the first event of its kind in the indoor arena in Castle Dale. The venue has been used many times for roping and barrel racing events and this will be the first bull riding event. Magnuson said they are excited to have Donnie Lantis, clown extraordinaire and two time Wrangler entertainer of the year, who will help keep the entrants safe and the crowd entertained. The bulls are spirited and ready to buck and they will be provided by Noyes/Malolo, Circle J. Rodeo, Diamond H. Rodeo, Chad Cole, Butterfield and Johnson Bucking Bulls.
Magnuson said, “We will have cowboys from Montana, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Arizona and South Carolina. There will be local cowboys including: Chase Sherman, Jacob Marshall, Kashe Potter, Kash Moosman, Wacey Allred and Ty Nielson. Wacey is currently the leader in the Rocky Mountain Pro Rodeo Association. Tyler Bingham is from Honeyville and he is the current reigning rodeo champ. Curry Fielder is a cowboy from Billings, Mont. and he is a leader in the elite professional bull riders circuit. We also have Otis Grant from Utah who is leading in the all-round in the Rocky Mountain Pro Rodeo Association. We really have some good talent coming to our event. Many of our bulls have been to the NRR and the PBR. We would really like to encourage the public to come and check out this event. It’s a Saturday night and you’ll be sure to have a good time. The concessions will be by the Smoke Pit.”
