FERRON – McCoy Barney, age 72, passed away Jan. 5, 2012 at home with his family. He was born Aug. 9, 1939 to Ishmal and Ruby Carter Barney in Benjamin, Utah. McCoy married Arlene Singleton on Jan. 7, 1959 in Provo, Utah.
McCoy was born and raised in Utah County. He worked at the State Hospital in Provo as a custodian for many years until his retirement. Following retirement he and Arlene moved to Ferron where they have lived for the past 18 years. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, and he could fish all day. He valued his family the most and loved to be with them. He had the opportunity of raising five of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; children: Ruby (James) Perkins of Cresent City, Calif., Tina (Robbie) Isaacson Tuttle of Fruita, Colo., Lila Barney, Dalmain Barney of Draper, Utah, and Kim (Gene) Allred of Ferron; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ishmal and Ruby; two brothers, Dalmain Barney and Duane Barney; two sisters, Nina Barney and Ann Chatwin Barney; and a son, Jeff Barney.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Ferron Bluehills and Millsite LDS Ward Building (35 West 200 North). There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Ferron City Cemetery.
