Come and join the congregation at Desert Edge Christian Chapel every Sunday morning at 10 a.m. for a wonderful experience of celebrating our loving God. They are a friendly bunch. They are far from perfect, but all are under repair. They do love God because He first loved us. All are in process. So, if you are looking for a church that will not judge, and a church that has purpose and direction for your life, and a church that teaches God’s truth, then check them out.
Pastor Carl Sitterud will begin a series of teaching messages on Jan. 22, that are messages from the parables of Jesus. Now a parable is not a fable. A fable is not a real situation or story. A fable is like the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. The lesson behind that story is to work steady and to finish what you start.
A parable is not an allegory. In an allegory each detail has meaning. If you have ever watched the Chronicles of Narnia, that is a great example of allegorical story telling.
Now in the parables of Jesus not every detail has meaning. If you try and force meaning into every detail you run the chance of teaching or believing false doctrine. Jesus was very frank and simple when it came to His teaching using parables. Parables are merely real life stories which we can draw one or maybe several life changing truths from. So for the next six months, Pastor Carl will be looking at the parable teaching of Jesus.
Here are a few of the topics he will be covering: how to have a life of purpose; Satan’s desire to ruin your life, but you don’t have to go down that road; how to move from disappointment to joy; and how false teachers will condemn their congregations.
Desert Edge Christian Chapel is located at 500 South Main Street in Huntington. Come and join them each Sunday at 10 a.m. There is no dress code. They believe as Jesus taught.
