PRICE-Bert David Huff, age 84, passed away on March 14, 2012 in Price, Utah. Bert was born on March 15, 1928 to Charles E. and Anne Warner Huff in Castle Gate, Utah. He married Anita Jean Smith on Nov. 28, 1946 in Kenilworth, Carbon County, Utah.
Bert was an active member of the LDS Church and a Veteran of World War II. He took pride in his military reserve service and the many commendations as a Mess Sergeant.
For nearly 50 years he was a coal miner, from roof bolter to general mine foreman. He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America.
Bert will be remembered as an outgoing jokester, loyal friend and hard worker. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, baseball, horseshoes and annual Huff Family Reunions with extended family.
Most of all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was his most cherished accomplishment. Having raised four daughters, he welcomed the camaraderie of his sons-in-law. He loved his grandchildren and took joy in their achievements and being in their company. His great-grandchildren were a source of endless delight.
He is survived by his children: Shannon (Paul) Jacobs of Murray, Utah, Cathy (Randy) Sitterud of Castle Dale, Utah, Janet (Doug) McCormack and Tricia (Gary) Atwood both of Price, Utah, 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; brother: Clifford Udell (LeaRaye) Huff of Brighton, Colo.; sister: LoaAnn Krompel of Price, Utah.
He is preceded in death by his wife Anita, brothers: Bernell, Verl, Leon, and sister, Rosetta Trimms.
Funeral services were Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Westwood LDS Ward (175 N. 1280 W.). A viewing was Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Fausett Mortuary in Price, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment was in the Cliffview Cemetery.
