Emery baseball play in weekend tournament

The Emery High baseball team made their annual trip to Montrose, Colo. and played three games against western Colorado high school teams last week. Emery opened the trip against Palisade High and suffered their only loss in the three games. Palisade won 7-1. Emery won their next two games as they defeated Moffat High 15-3 and then Delta, Colo. High 12-5.
Against Palisade, Emery allowed four runs in the first inning and three runs in the final inning but played well in the middle five innings. In the first inning, five base on balls and a double did the damage. In the final inning, a hit batsman, a double and a homerun accounted for the runs.
Emery scored their lone run in the top of the seventh inning. Brandon Oliver doubled and scored on a passed ball two batters later. The only other Spartan base hits in the game were a single by Oliver and a single by Ridge Nielson. Ridge, Geren Payne and Hunter Huntington each nabbed a walk in the game.
Against Moffat, Emery scored once in the first, three times in the second, eight times in the third and three times in the fourth inning as they won the game in five innings. Emery gave up the three runs in the third inning.
In the first inning, Nielson walked and scored on a single by Payne. In the second inning, Tyson Roper singled, Nielson singled again and Payne walked and all three scored. Kaden Feichko also singled in the inning.
In the third inning, Emery scored eight runs on a pair of hits and seven walks. Dillon Wilstead had a bunt single and Feichko had another single. Tappan Draper, Nielson, Payne, Oliver twice, Wilstead and Roper all walked.
In the fourth inning, Colton Collard got on due to an error, Draper got hit by a pitch, Marco Mota walked and Oliver doubled.
In the game against Delta, Emery scored eight runs in the sixth inning to break open a close game up until then. Delta scored two in the third inning and another in the fourth inning to lead Emery 3-2 going into the sixth inning. Emery had scored two runs in the fourth inning. Delta and Emery each added two runs in the seventh inning to get to the final score.
In that sixth inning, Emery had six base hits and took advantage of four walks to score their eight runs.
Feichko got hit by a pitch to open the inning. Oliver, the next batter, singled and Wilstead got the first out of the inning. Roper singled, Curtis Mason walked and Colton Collard singled. Draper then doubled scoring two runs followed by Nielson walking. Payne then singled to score Draper. Feichko got hit by a pitch and Oliver then singled scoring Nielson. After Wilstead walked, Roper walked knocking in the final Emery score.
In the third inning, Nielson walked and Payne and Oliver each doubled to score two runs. In the seventh inning, Collard walked, Draper tripled and Feichko singled for the runs.
Emery plays Uintah at home on Tuesday and on Friday Emery opens region play against Richfield in Castle Dale.
