HELPER-Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Raymond Vergil “Mac” McKendrick, age 73, passed away March 14, 2012 after a short illness while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Jan. 29, 1939 in Helper, Utah to John and Naomi Mollard McKendrick.
On Feb. 10, 1968, he married Rosella Burringo in Helper, Utah.
Raymond had a lifelong love for hard work and honesty. He was a dedicated employee of the Rio Grande and Southern Pacific Railroads where he retired as a carpenter after 38 years of service. Raymond dedicated his life to the service of others and he proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed collecting music, western movies and was passionate about his collection of model caterpillars and dozers. Raymond loved camping, fishing, bowling and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Community Nursing Services, especially Tami Wakefield, Dr. Karen Radley, and Sherie Grant for taking such wonderful care of our beloved husband and father.
Survived by the love of his life, Rosella McKendrick, Helper; daughters, Cynthia Vigil, Price, Sherry (Alex) Arroyo, Helper, sons, Guy Grant, Price, Butch (Sherie) Grant, Helper; sister-in-law, Ella McKendrick; brothers-in-law, Richard Rampa and James Wright; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, son, Steve; brothers, Max and Leland; sisters, Betty and Jane; and granddaughter, Sheree Grant.
Funeral service, Saturday, March 17, 2012, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main) in Price. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
