Martinez McManus, age 68, passed away on St. Patrick’s Day March 17, 2012 in Price, Utah. She was born Sept. 3, 1943 in Monte Vista, Colo. to Pomoceno “Pete” J. Martinez and Anna Perea.
Sandra married Daniel R. Sausedo, July 23, 1966 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Carbon. He passed away on Nov. 6, 1974. On Nov. 26, 1976, Sandra married Charles J. McManus in Elko, Nev. and he preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1992.
Sandra was a longtime resident of East Carbon and a proud graduate of East Carbon High School. Her professional life was a huge part of who she was and Sandra dedicated herself at an early age to assisting those with disabilities. The awards and accolades she received over a 36 year career with the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation are too numerous to count. Sandra was honored by several state administrations with awards that included: The Governor’s Gold Key Award, The Utah State Office of Rehabilition Executive Director’s Award for Outstanding Service, Employee of the Month and the Best of Best Award.
Sandra loved her family fiercely and considered her duties as a mother, aunt and grandmother the center of her life. Her kind and loving spirit touched everyone lucky enough to know her. However, her longtime administrator and friend Karl Kraync described her most significant contribution as the difference she made in the lives of clients at the Eastern Utah District Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Survived by her children, C.J. (Kami) McManus, East Carbon, Randy McManus, Sunnyside, Delisa McManus, Salt Lake City, Ronnie (Rick) Jones, West Jordan; grandchildren, Lux, Kearston, Easton, MacGregor and Kanyen; loving nieces and nephews, Michelle (Mike) Barker, Spring Glen, Pete (Kelly) Martinez, Price, Cheryl (Miles) Frandsen, St. George, Andy Martinez, Denver, Barbara (Kevin) Din, San Jose, Calif., Raquel (Andrew) Blanford, Santa Barbara, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother, Jr. Martinez; and grandson, Randy McManus.
Funeral service, Thursday, March 22, 2012, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home ( 233 East Main Street) in Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
