Richard Keith Bastian, 77, of Payson, Utah, formerly of Green River, Utah passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012 at his home in Payson. He was born on March 2, 1935 in Loa, Utah, the son of George Anthon and Carrie Roean Myers Bastian. He married Bette Fullmer on June 1, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He attend schools in Green River and graduated from Green River High School as the class valedictorian. He worked for various employers doing road construction and was a heavy equipment operator. He was the custodian for the Green River LDS Ward for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, tying flies, and he was a master fisherman. He also enjoyed dancing. He was a craftsman who built his own home, boat, waterskis, boat trailer, fishing poles, and bow.
Throughout his life Keith was a perfectionist and always made sure that everything was done right.
Survivors include his wife Bette of Payson, three sons and two daughters; Chris (Doug) Shorts of Mapleton, Utah, Marian (Earl) Davis of Salem, Utah, Byron (Vickie) Bastian of Payson, Utah, Devan (Kaye) Bastian of Vernal, Utah, Larry (Amy) Bastian of Richfield, Utah; 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two brothers, one sister; Calvin (Phyllis) Bastian of Green River, Utah, Marie (George) Cavenaugh of Bountiful, Utah, Ernest (Lorna) Bastian of Green River, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister; Newell Bastian, Myrtle Bair, and Jake Bastian.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Salem LDS Ward Chapel at 60 South Main Salem. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
