The meeting of the Board of the Local Building Authority of Emery County was held on May 8.
The meeting was opened by Commissioner Laurie Pitchforth who is the chairman of the LBA.
Current project number one is the remodeling of the Huntington Senior Center. The demolition started yesterday. This is the taking out the old and putting in the new kitchen.
The senior citizens are temporarily meeting at the old Huntington City Building. “We expect this remodel to be completed in 45 days,” said Commissioner Pitchforth.
The second project for the LBA is the relocation of the fuel tanks at the Huntington Airport. The project will remove the tanks from the 400 foot safety zone on the air strip. This project should be out for bid soon. This is the final step in the five year plan for the airport. There are plans still in the works to put new hangars, another work building hangar and improve the airport. The county will try to purchase another fuel tank so they will have adequate fuel for the needs of the flying public. This additional tank would allow the county to purchase a truck load of fuel at a time, thereby saving money. The airport is using a lot of fuel now and this would be a benefit to the county. A Back Country Fly In event is expected in October at the airport.
